From my back deck, I hear a faint tone.  Almost like a muted smoke detector.  Nearly steady.  Coming from about where Mickey's Trail and Murphy's meet – in that general area - the far Northeastern portion of the subdivision.

Sprinkle Road bridge reconstruction over I-94

starts Monday in Kalamazoo

Fast facts:

- Sprinkle Road bridge reconstruction over I-94 begins March 16 in Kalamazoo.

- MDOT is investing $15.5 million to build a dual-roundabout interchange at I-94 and Sprinkle Road.

- Work is expected to be complete in November.

March 9, 2015 -- Utility work already is under way and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is planning to start the reconstruction of the Sprinkle Road bridge over I-94 on Monday, March 16. Construction is scheduled for completion in November.

MDOT is investing $15.5 million to build a dual-roundabout interchange at I-94 and Sprinkle Road. The north roundabout will serve Sprinkle Road, the west leg of Cork Street, and the westbound I-94 off ramp. The south roundabout will include Sprinkle Road and the eastbound I-94 on and off ramps. The east leg of Cork Street will become the westbound I-94 off ramp, and the Cork Street bridge over I-94 will be removed.

Sprinkle Rd

The new bridge, ramp alignment and roundabouts will improve safety and traffic flow, and reduce delays along the Sprinkle Road corridor. The roundabouts have been designed to safely and efficiently accommodate heavy commercial traffic.

Throughout construction, one lane of Sprinkle Road will be open in each direction. I-94 ramps at Sprinkle Road will be closed, and traffic will be directed to adjacent interchanges; eastbound traffic to Portage Road Exit 78, and westbound traffic to I-94 Business Loop Exit 81. There also will be nighttime single-lane closures on I-94.

postal note

Monday
2 March 2015; 4:33 p.m.

Mail carrier now driving down Mauri's Lane.  I don't recall his name off-hand, but it is not Becky.  He takes a different route which lands him at Mauri's Lane about this time whenever he is driving.  Nothing unusual.  I see no need to make additional notes about this semi-regular occurrence.

Cheers,

-- John
